Early Childhood Program
The Early Childhood class is for newborn to 3-year-olds. Children up to 6 months are free. This is a wonderful opportunity to prepare children for beginning Suzuki instruction.

Class Time
Class size ranges from 3-12 students accompanied by a parent and meets once a week.
In the class there are several skills that your child will be developing.
Your child’s listening skills will enable them to follow
simple directions, listen carefully, recognize common sounds and repeat a
sequence of sounds. The class will teach your child pitch skills including
high, low, up, down, fast, slow, left, right and the falling third (known
as the child’s play interval). In the class we will count orally to 10
and be able to track from left to right (this will prepare them for
reading). Motor skills will also be developed with the help of this class;
your child will be able to walk, jump, run, and hop to music, as well as
marching and clapping.
Music is a great way to get both sides of your brain engaged! While
the logical side is working on our motor skills, the emotional side will be
developing independence, inner calm, sharing, self-control and learning to
wait for turns. In the class we will be singing, playing instruments and saying nursery rhymes. The class consists of two different curriculums that
are rotated and repeated for the duration of the semester. This way your
child knows what to expect and can react to activities without holding back
or becoming shy. The repeated curriculum will also teach your child how to
memorize. As your child grows, this class will aid in the development of
creativity, sensitivity, inner discipline, focus, concentration,
anticipation and imitation of actions. Along with all the amazing things
music does for your brain, this class delights children and keeps them
eager for the next class.
The class is currently offered online via Zoom.
In the future we hope to resume in-person classes, which have been held
at Heritage Pointe, a senior care facility. This offers an additional benefit
of an intergenerational learning experience where children, parents and
elders share experiences in a loving environment of music and learning,
which can only be described as joyful!
Let’s sing and make music together!
